How to Transfer eSIM to Another Phone?

Transferring your eSIM to a new phone is easy with most providers, whether you’re upgrading, switching devices temporarily, or changing phones for any other reasons. If you have an eSIM from Llega, please note that it can’t be transferred to another device.

To transfer your eSIM, you’ll just need to remove it from your old phone, restart it, and install it on your new one. After that, activate eSIM and you’re ready to go. Keep reading to learn how to transfer your eSIM to another phone, whether it’s from an iPhone or Android!

To Keep in Mind

Before transferring your eSIM to a new phone, remember that Llega doesn’t support eSIM transfers, meaning the steps in this article won’t apply. However, if you’re using a different eSIM carrier, make sure to keep these key points to ensure a smooth process:

  • Verify that the target phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked. Compatibility varies by region. Many phones from mainland China, for instance, do not support eSIM.
  • Connect to a strong and stable Wi-Fi network during the transfer to avoid installation errors.
  • Finish the transfer process completely, as leaving it midway can cause errors or connectivity issues.
  • If you experience installation errors on your new iOS or Android device, try the other installation method (QR code or manual entry).

Steps to Transfer eSIM to Another Device

1. Delete or remove eSIM from the current phone

The process to remove your eSIM is generally the same across devices, though it may vary slightly depending on the model. Just follow these steps to get started.

To delete an eSIM on your iPhone:

  • Go to Settings  Mobile Data or Cellular  Select the eSIM to delete  Scroll to the bottom  Tap on Delete eSIM.

To delete an eSIM on your Android:

  • Go to Settings  Connections → SIM Manager  Choose the eSIM you want to delete  Then tap on Remove.

2. Restart or reboot the phone:

Restarting your phone ensures the eSIM is fully removed and ready for transfer. Sometimes, the eSIM may still show up in the list after removal, but this is normal. As long as it was deleted properly, the transfer will go smoothly.

3. Install and activate eSIM on your new phone:

The final step to transfer your eSIM is installing it on your new device. You can do this either by scanning a QR code or manually entering the details. Here’s how to transfer eSIM to your new phone and activate it successfully.

To transfer the eSIM to an iPhone:

  • Go to Settings  Cellular or Mobile Data  Add eSIM → Use QR Code  Scan the QR code or Enter Details Manually → Next  Continue with Activation (enable Data roaming to start using it on your new device).

To transfer the eSIM to an Android:

  • Go to Settings → Tap on Connections → Select SIM Manager  Add eSIM  Scan QR Code or Enter activation code  Copy and paste the complete code (including LPA and colons)  Add → Continue with Activation (enable Data roaming to start using it on your new device).
